Hopes and Dreams

 


In English the word hope and dream have the same meaning. It is "mimpi". Hope or dream is something that we want to happen and we work very hard for it to happen. But we are not sure whether it will happen or not and sometimes we can't do anything about it. Hopes and dreams signal future intentions.


In life we ​​must have hopes and dreams, whether it's an ideal, or want to have something that we don't have. In English, hope means hope and dream means dream, both have the same meaning. Hopes and Dreams is something we want to happen and we have to work hard to make it happen. But we will not know for sure when Hopes and Dreams will come true.


The ways for expressing hopes and dreams To express hopes and dreams we need the verb hope and wish (dream). How is hope different from wish? if hope is usually used to express goodwill, but if wish is an impossible thing it can happen.


How to express our hopes:

• Sentence structure to express hope using ”ing verbs”.

 Formula : subject + To be + verb ing + complement

Example: 

I am hoping for a good grade in English . (Saya berharap mendapat nilai bagus dalam bahasa Inggris)


• Sentence structure to express hope using “to” and “that”.

Formula : subject + verb + complement

Example:

I hope to study in Banda Aceh next year . (Saya berharap untuk belajar di Banda Aceh tahun depan)

I hope that you will be a winner . (Saya harap kamu menjadi pemenang)


• Sentence structure to express hope using verb tenses.

Formula : subject + verb + Complement / object

Example: 

I hope Ameera finds my wallet . (Saya harap Ameera menemukan dompet saya)


Example sentence hope

• I am hoping for a good grade in mathematics.

• I am hoping for some success in my business.

• I hope that today will be sunny.

• I hope that the bus will arrive on time.

• I hope to have much more fun on the beach.

• I hope my baby will recover soon.

• I hope the police officer finds the thief.

• I hope you have a great time in Bali.

• I hope all of the students will pass the exam.

• I hope my baby would not cry all night.


Example sentence wish

• I wish I could be more.

• I wish you came back to me

• I wish you could be my girlfriend.

• I wish my mother is still alive.

• I wish I could live in South Korea someday.

• I wish that you were here.

• I wish I wasn't failed the test on that day

• I hope you love me back.
